Day 16:  Heart in Your Hands

IMG_0118I once saw a massage therapist business card that said “there is nothing so healing as the human touch.” I agree. And there is plenty of science to back up the health benefits of touch, especially loving touch. We touch ourselves every day in a variety of ways. We scratch, clean, wash and pick at ourselves mindlessly throughout the day (and night). The first thing we do if we stub a toe or smash a finger it to hold the injured body part. When we have a stomach ache or stiff neck, we will rub or hold that area as well. We intuitively know that there is some sort of energetic happening between our touch and our body.

Thought for the Day:

Touch transfers energy. When we put intention in our touch, we transmit that energy into our own body. Bringing the energy of love, healing, arousal and pleasure to your touch will enhance your self-cultivation, and bring an increase of those things into your body.

Continuing rubbing them until you begin to feel heat. Imagine that, as your exhale, you send the energy from your heart down your arms and directly into your palms. Allow your palms to generate heart energy, and once you feel your heart in your hands, place your left hand under your pelvic floor and your right hand on your heart. Find your breath again and breathe from one hand to the other. Focus on the heart energy that is moving from one hand to the other.

Continue with your self-cultivation, keeping your “heart in your hands,” and focus on the ongoing intention of your practice.

Daily Contemplation:

“Walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.”

~Thich Nhat Hanh

Lady, I will touch you with my mind.
Touch you and touch and touch
until you give
me suddenly a smile, shyly obsceneLady I will touch you with my mind
Touch you, that is all,
and you utterly will become
with infinite ease
the poem which i do not write.

~ E.E. Cummings
